Although years ago we all accepted to wait, patiently watching the wheel turn, in 2021 we have less patience. If your website takes more than 3 seconds to load, don't count on anyone staring!
And, somewhat less obviously, speed affects positioning; Google penalizes slow websites a lot, so bad hosting can send you to the tail of cyberspace. It happened to me and I had to "move" to another after wondering for months why my website was missing from the map!
